“GameStop has offered to buy eBay, and eBay has rejected the bid. Ryan Cohen has built a stake and said he is still pursuing a deal. This market asks whether an acquisition or merger is officially announced by December 31, 2026 - or not.”
This market will resolve based on whether it is officially announced that eBay will be, has been, or is being acquired by or merged with GameStop at any point after market launch and on or before December 31, 2026, 11:59 PM UTC. The market resolves to “Yes” if eBay or GameStop announces such an acquisition or merger by the deadline, regardless of whether or when the deal actually closes. A deal involving eBay Inc. or GameStop, or a parent of either, counts. The market resolves to “No” if no such announcement is made by the deadline. A partial sale counts only if GameStop acquires a controlling interest: enough ownership to control strategic decisions, typically more than 50% of equity or equivalent voting and governance rights. A minority stake, open-market purchases, a rejected or withdrawn non-binding offer, a partnership, or a joint venture does not count. Rumors and unconfirmed media speculation do not qualify. Primary source: official information from eBay and GameStop. A consensus of credible reporting will also suffice. If the outcome cannot be reasonably determined, the market will be voided.
